L’étrange pouvoir du bruit : voyage au cœur de la résonance stochastique
[Conference]
By David Rousseau and François Chapeau Blondeau University of Angers.
This talk offers an accessible and captivating exploration of stochastic resonance, a surprising scientific phenomenon in which noise - usually perceived as annoying - becomes capable of amplifying signals too weak to be detected. Present in physics, neurobiology and many natural and technological systems, this mechanism reveals how chance and non-linearity can work together to bring out the invisible.
Using concrete examples, demonstrations and simple models, the talk will show how this phenomenon works, why it fascinates researchers, and how it opens up new perspectives for sound art and creation. It will also shed light on the links between scientific research, human perception and artistic experimentation. An invitation to look at - and listen to - noise differently: no longer as a disorder, but as a source of amplification, inspiration and astonishment.
