Osez Joséphine

Show organised by the Chœur de la Cité choir from Sainte-Suzanne-et-Chammes (53)

Thanks to the research of several people, a resident of Chammes was one day posthumously recognised as "Righteous Among the Nations" by the Yad Vashem committee. Why this simple, discreet, hard-working peasant? Well, during the Second World War, she was asked to hide Jews, with all the risks involved. And so she did. Courageous, wasn't she?

But what about me? What about you? And what would all of us do if such a situation arose, whoever the person or persons to be helped might be? Would we be heroes, like Josephine? Or bastards like the whistleblowers, or even executioners?

Our choir has taken this local story and turned it into a show. Composed of 16 sketches, read and performed by an actress and two actors, and 16 songs sung by between 45 and 55 of our choristers.

It's a serious, combative and even dramatic theme, but the good humour of our group will also reveal some joyful moments, orchestrated by both the songs and the narration.
