LES AVENTURIERS DU CANAL - EXPOSITION

Exhibition of unpublished documents on the history of the canal and the forges at Aron

The Chemins Nature et Patrimoine Aronnais association has been researching the history of the canal that diverted the Aron at Marcillé la Ville and fed the series of ponds at Aron.

The common thread running through this research is the history of the canal and its development for the benefit of the community, by bringing to light elements of the daily life of the generations that preceded us.

The exhibition features photos and previously unpublished documents on :
- The initial situation before the canal
- The context of its creation (reasons, financing, means used, duration, etc.)
- Its economic impact over the past centuries, illustrating the context and changes in the issues at stake
- Its current ecological impact throughout its course and its impact on biodiversity in different areas
- The experience of local people in the vicinity of and in relation to the canal at different times (Aron castle with its moat, the fish market on which the lord of the manor took a commission, then the driving force behind the forges and the mill at Beaucoudray, etc.).

Free access during office opening hours.
