The infinite wave of ringing bells - David Moreau
As part of Le Mans Sonore.
To create the visual accompaniment to the sound installation Silent Echoes, Le Mans by Bill Fontana, video artist David Moreau drew inspiration from the continuous sound that pours out of the loudspeakers like a river, to imagine a visual framework, like an organic fluid in a blue tone that flows without interruption and varies according to the subtle variations in intensity emanating from the bells set in vibration by all the constantly changing sound activity around them. In this incessant cosmic luminous flux, particles meet and collide on an indeterminate scale, macro or microscopic, like molecules or planets where, by gravity, matter attracts, clumps together and accelerates, as in the vicinity of a black hole.
The speed at which this fluid moves varies according to the density of the soundtrack and the sharp asperities of sound in the environment, causing slight bursts of colour in the red spectrum.
With this synaesthetic video work, David Moreau offers a poetic encounter between the invisible world of sound and the inaudible universe of colour.
David Moreau was born in 1980 and lives in Le Mans. After obtaining his DNSEP at the Ecole Européenne Supérieure d'Art de Bretagne, he became a graphic designer and video artist. Since 2005, he has worked with a number of theatre and dance companies, musical productions and opera companies, creating powerful, graphic set designs. He works and shows his creations all over France and internationally, for example with the Korean National Dance Centre in Seoul, Korea.
