An exhibition as part of the ‘Faites Lire!’ initiative, in partnership with Librairie Bulle and Dupuis. With *Dessiner l’Amérique*, the Le Lombard x Gallmeister collection invites the public to explore the many facets of the American imagination, as brought to life in novels and their comic-book adaptations. The exhibition highlights the richness of a literary tradition characterised by the great outdoors, adventure stories, Westerns, rural crime fiction and nature writing – all genres that have helped shape a particular representation of America. It also focuses on the characters who populate these stories: adventurers, outcasts, courageous heroines and communities in struggle. Through their journeys, it reveals the tensions, hopes and contradictions of an American society grappling with social, cultural and political issues. By combining literature and comics, ‘Dessiner l’Amérique’ ultimately reveals the power of narrative and imagery to depict a land, pass on a collective memory and challenge the myths that still shape our perception of the American continent today. Free admission, from Monday 28 September to Sunday 25 October. From 28 September to 4 October, Monday to Saturday, 1.00 pm to 5.30 pm. Sundays, 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm.
